Worship and Praise Ministry

Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament! Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness! Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp! Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes! Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord! (Psalm 150 NKJV)
The style of the worship at His House reflects the diversity of our congregation. You will experience excitement within the expression of praise, sense awe filled worship in adoration, and feel the intimacy of our Heavenly Father’s love through music, drama, and dance.
Deanna Gorman has been in music ministry since the age of nine. As a pastor’s daughter, she had “hands on” experience – leading her first children’s choir during her high school years. Deanna has studied voice privately since 1988, which enabled her to earn several honors and awards in singing competitions. She attended Loyola University New Orleans with a 4-year scholarship to their School of Music. After Loyola, she directed special choirs and led the Praise Singers worship team at Praise Church in New Orleans. Throughout the years, she has also provided private vocal coaching. Deanna, her husband, Dwayne, and their children, Drew and Dawson moved to Spring Hill in 2006.

Vision and Values

His House Governing Vision
Our vision is simple: Transformation. Everything we do is based on our vision of transforming our lives, our church, our neighborhoods and our city through winning souls and making disciples.
• Use the arts, contemporary music, and multiple sources of media to communicate ancient truth to a technological generation. • Provide a cutting edge spiritual environment for children and young people.
• Develop "His House of Prayer" ministry with methods like Harp and Bowl, Lectio Divina, and praying the scriptures.
• Train prophetically gifted people in an environment of love and safety.
• Use the "Healing Room" model to train and minister healing to our community.
• Find a place of ministry for every person in the church.
• Use every biblically appropriate method to win the lost.
• Plant churches in Tennessee, America, and around the world.
His House Governing Values
• The promise of enjoyable prayer is for you. (Is 56:7)
• Jesus is our "American Idol." (Ex 20:3)
• Follow the fire! (Nu 9:22)
• Methods must continually change but the message never does. (Lu 5:38)
• Worship is a party in the King's chambers (Ps.2, celebration, majesty,
intimacy).
• You can splash in the river as long as you stay between the banks.
(1 Cor 14:40)
• Spiritual fathers and mothers are to "be fruitful and multiply" sons and
daughters. (Ge 1:28; Mat 28:18-20)
• The life is in the cell. (Acts 2:42-47)
• The Father loves you as you are, but loves you too much to leave you as
you are. (2 Cor 3:18)
• "Small things done with great love will change the world." Steve Sjogren
• We do it by the Book. (2 Tim 3:16-17)
• An apple seed's potential is not a tree, but an orchard. (Acts 13:2-3)

Pastoral Promises
Promises from the Pastoral Staff to you.
1 . We will faithfully teach you the Word of God... The apostle Peter said, " like newborn babes, long for the pure milk of the word, that by it you may grow in respect to salvation." [1Peter 2:2] There is no substitute for systematic, verse by verse Bible teaching.
2. We will do everything possible to strengthen your marriage and your family against the destructive pressures of the culture in which we live... [Phil. 2:15]
3. We will vigorously oppose the division producing carnality that plagues so many churches. We will not have gossip, back biting, or anything else that will divide us as a congregation and neutralize our witness for Christ. [2 Cor. 12:20]
4. We will strongly encourage small group participation that makes for accountability and personal spiritual growth. [Heb. 3:13]
5. We will encourage whatever use of our resources necessary to adequately minister to your children. [Matt. 19:14]
6. We will give myself to the practice and teaching of moral purity - especially among our men. We will do everything we can to protect ourselves from the sexual cesspool that is thrown in our faces every day. [1 Thes. 4:3-7]
7. We will seek to win the lost of this community and disciple them in a manner consistent with the New Testament. Although my sermons will be "expository" (verse by verse explanation of Scripture) there will be a regular challenge to receive Christ. [2 Tim 4:5]
8. We will strongly emphasize home and foreign missions that we may obey the mandate of the Great Commission to go into all the world. (Matt. 28:18-20)
9. We will lead our congregation in honoring our women as given to us as special instruments of God's mercy. I will do everything possible to elevate them and facilitate the special role to which they have been called in the body of Christ and in the home. [Prov. 31, Titus 2]
10. We promise to provide a safe environment you can bring family and friends to with no embarrassingly long appeals for funds. We will be committed to excellence and diversity in our music. We will place a priority on the presence of God. We will seek to create an environment for the gifts of the Spirit while bringing balance with decency and order in our public meetings. [Col 3:23]
11. We promise to challenge and train our members into regular service and fruitful ministry that we might bless God and each other. [1 Thes. 5:11]
Finally, let me add a twelfth. We promise to encourage all of our people to personally own the rest of this list.... that our entire church might be personally committed to these things. As we do so, may God Himself, dwell among us. May He bring forth mighty manifestations of His glory. May He use us to call the lost souls of our community to Himself. May we grow in numbers - and in stature with both God and man. Lastly, in the words of Paul, let me ask of God for you...
"That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." [Col. 2:2-3]

What We Believe
These are nonnegotiable tenets of faith that all Assemblies of God churches adhere to. This list is derived from the official Statement of Fundamental Truths. Click links below to see the complete original statement with scriptures.
-
WE BELIEVE...The Scriptures are Inspired by God and declare His design and plan for mankind.
-
WE BELIEVE...There is only One True God–revealed in three persons...Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (commonly known as the Trinity).
-
WE BELIEVE...In the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. As God's son Jesus was both human and divine.
-
WE BELIEVE...though originally good, Man Willingly Fell to Sin–ushering evil and death, both physical and spiritual, into the world.
-
WE BELIEVE...Every Person Can Have Restored Fellowship with God Through 'Salvation' (accepting Christ's offer of forgiveness for sin). [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the A/G]
-
WE BELIEVE...and practice two ordinances—(1) Water Baptism by Immersion after repenting of one's sins and receiving Christ's gift of salvation, and (2) Holy Communion (the Lord's Supper) as a symbolic remembrance of Christ's suffering and death for our salvation.
-
WE BELIEVE...the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a Special Experience Following Salvation that empowers believers for witnessing and effective service, just as it did in New Testament times. [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the A/G]
-
WE BELIEVE... The Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is ‘Speaking in Tongues,’ as experienced on the Day of Pentecost and referenced throughout Acts and the Epistles.
-
WE BELIEVE...Sanctification Initially Occurs at Salvation and is not only a declaration that a believer is holy, but also a progressive lifelong process of separating from evil as believers continually draw closer to God and become more Christlike.
-
WE BELIEVE...The Church has a Mission to seek and save all who are lost in sin. We believe 'the Church' is the Body of Christ and consists of the people who, throughout time, have accepted God's offer of redemption (regardless of religious denomination) through the sacrificial death of His son Jesus Christ.
-
WE BELIEVE...A Divinely Called and Scripturally Ordained Leadership Ministry Serves the Church. The Bible teaches that each of us under leadership must commit ourselves to reach others for Christ, to worship Him with other believers, and to build up or edify the body of believers–the Church.
-
WE BELIEVE...Divine Healing of the Sick is a Privilege for Christians Today and is provided for in Christ's atonement (His sacrificial death on the cross for our sins). [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the A/G]
-
WE BELIEVE...in The Blessed Hope—When Jesus Raptures His Church Prior to His Return to Earth (the second coming). At this future moment in time all believers who have died will rise from their graves and will meet the Lord in the air, and Christians who are alive will be caught up with them, to be with the Lord forever. [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the A/G]
-
WE BELIEVE...in The Millennial Reign of Christ when Jesus returns with His saints at His second coming and begins His benevolent rule over earth for 1,000 years. This millennial reign will bring the salvation of national Israel and the establishment of universal peace.
-
WE BELIEVE...A Final Judgment Will Take Place for those who have rejected Christ. They will be judged for their sin and consigned to eternal punishment in a punishing lake of fire.
-
WE BELIEVE...and look forward to the perfect New Heavens and a New Earth that Christ is preparing for all people, of all time, who have accepted Him. We will live and dwell with Him there forever following His millennial reign on Earth. 'And so shall we forever be with the Lord!'

Church Government- How We Operate

(His House Bylaws Excerpts)
LEAD PASTOR
Function: The Lead Pastor shall serve the dual roles as both the Spiritual Overseer of all other His House Church Partners and ministries as well as the President of the Pastoral Leadership Team.
- Spiritual Oversight: The Lead Pastor shall work cooperatively with the Presbytery, the Pastoral Leadership Team, and the Advisory Council, as well as anyone serving the church with recognized gifting as apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, to edify the Congregation including, but not limited to, pastoral care, conducting primary discipleship so that they continue to grow in maturity, preparing them for their ministry, and establishing and communicating the God-given vision and mission of the church. Additionally, the Lead Pastor shall budget monies, hire staff, develop projects, and oversee the creation of groups and ministries to support the mission and vision of His House Church, and shall have the general powers and duties of supervision and management usually vested in the pastoral office of any local church.
- Corporate Oversight: The Lead Pastor shall also serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation, President of the Pastoral Leadership Team-Board of Directors, Head of the Advisory Council, and Chairman of Partnership Meetings, according to the Articles of Incorporation, within the reasonable bounds of accountability of the Advisory Council, overseeing all ongoing activities related to the development, the implementation, the maintenance of the spiritual and temporal mission, the business of His House Church, and the adherence to the policies and procedures, both assumed and specifically outlined by these Bylaws herein, in compliance with federal, state, and municipal laws.
The Lead Pastor shall preside over all meetings of the Pastoral Leadership Team who serve as the Board of Directors for the Corporation, assuring that all orders and resolutions of that team are fulfilled. The Lead Pastor shall also call the meetings for the Pastoral Leadership Team and determine the agenda for each meeting. He shall execute in the name of His House Church all deeds, contracts, and other documents upon the advice of the Treasurer and within the bounds of accountability of the Advisory Council. He shall also serve as an ex-officio member of the Management Team as well as all Ministry Teams and shall have the general powers and duties of supervision and management usually vested in the executive office of any corporation.
Budget and Expenditures: Since the Lead Pastor is primarily responsible for the spiritual life of His House Church, he shall also have corporate authority to make expenditures, within the approved budget guidelines and upon the advice of the Treasurer, ensuring that financial strength is directed toward the ministry directives of the Pastoral Leadership Team. The Lead Pastor, with the assistance of the Treasurer, shall be responsible for the preparation of an annual budget and its submission to the Advisory Council for approval...
Appointment and Removal: If the Lead Pastor is deceased while in office, incapacitated indefinitely, disciplined by the Presbytery, resigns, or if the position becomes vacant for any other reason, then the Advisory Council shall work cooperatively with the remaining Pastoral Leadership Team to locate a new Lead Pastor. Both bodies jointly functioning as one Pastoral Search Team shall first consult with the Presbytery for a list of eligible candidates who might possess similar style and philosophy to that of His House Church. The spouse of the Lead Pastor may participate in conjunction with the Pastoral Search Team in the search for a successor unless the Lead Pastor has resigned or is under discipline by the Presbytery. Once the team has determined its choice of candidate, then they shall present their recommendation to the Partners, giving ample opportunity to become acquainted with the candidate. Then at a duly called Partner Meeting, confirmation of the new Lead Pastor by the Partners shall be in accordance to Paragraph 12.3 herein. Given the latitude for leadership that the Lead Pastor is given under these Bylaws and the leadership and ministry qualities needed by the Lead Pastor to empower the church, the process of selection of a new Lead Pastor shall be conducted in the most careful manner. Accusations and procedures for discipline regarding the Lead Pastor, and his subsequent removal, shall be in accordance to Paragraph 13.2 herein.
PASTORAL LEADERSHIP TEAM
Function: The Pastoral Leadership Team shall be the legal Board of Directors of
His House Church and shall provide spiritual guidance and corporate stability while serving as its spiritual and temporal governing body. Whereas the New Testament uses the term “elder” in every instance to describe the vocational office of a Pastor (elder and pastor are interchangeable terms), and whereas the Scriptures also make it abundantly clear that the early church was pastor-led (elder-led),76 therefore the governing council of His House Church shall consist of the Pastoral Leadership Team which is primarily authorized to fulfill the following duties and responsibilities:
-
Protect the Church Body
- Feed the Church Body
- Govern the Body
- Care for the Body
- Equip the Body
Limits of Authority: Because the Pastors are responsible for all final decisions for His House Church, they shall seek the advice of the Treasurer and remain within the reasonable bounds of accountability by the Advisory Council regarding all major financial and business decisions so as to protect the interests of the Partnership and the integrity of the church. The Lead Pastor shall preside over all decisions as long as the issue at hand does not involve a conflict of interest for the Lead Pastor. Matters regarding the Lead Pastor must be deferred to the Advisory Council, and the Lead Pastor shall not vote on the matter. If the Pastoral Leadership Team drops below three persons (Lead Pastor plus two other pastors), then the Advisory Council shall serve jointly with the Pastors as one leadership team and be allowed all the privileges stated herein.
TREASURER
Function: The Treasurer is responsible to advise the Pastors regarding expenditures, to appeal to the Advisory Council when the health of the church is endangered, to ensure that proper accounting practices are maintained, and to make certain that accurate financial records are kept and reported. He shall not determine expenditures. Financial employees and/or volunteers who work under the Lead Pastor’s supervision are also responsible to the Treasurer. The duties and responsibilities of the Treasurer shall include the following:
- Oversee all contribution collections, counting, and the deposit of all funds into accounts approved by the Pastors and in the name of His House Church.
- Sign and issue all checks authorized by the Pastors on behalf of His House Church.
- Keep an itemized account of receipts and disbursements.
- Present a report to the Pastors regularly on a basis they determine necessary.
- Present a report to the Advisors on a basis they determine necessary.
- Provide an annual written financial report to the Partners.
- Assist the church in acquiring and maintaining available tax exemptions under federal, state, and municipal laws.
- File all payroll taxes in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Provide a record of all identified contributions to each donor annually.
- Review all contracts with providers of goods and services.
- Assist all ministries in setting and remaining within the budget guidelines.
- Be the authenticator of the corporate seal when used.
- Insure that current financial reports, as well as financial reports for the previous year, are reasonably available to any Partner upon written request.
- Perform all the duties usually incident to the office of Treasurer and such other duties as may be prescribed from time to time by the Lead Pastor.
Function: The Advisory Council shall recognize the God-given role of the Pastors’ leadership, and lend counsel and provide cooperative accountability, so as to wisely guard and protect the Pastors regarding the business and ministry operations of the church, except in the case of the following decisions that they shall ratify:
- The selection and compensation review of the Lead Pastor.
- The Lead Pastor’s appointment of other Pastors and the Treasurer.
- The alteration of terms of employment for employees during an interim period between Lead Pastors.
- The annual budget
- The purchase or sale of any asset(s) in accordance with Paragraph 5.4 herein.
- Amendment to these bylaws.
- Disaffiliation/affiliation with an affiliate network of churches.
- Any church health concerns caused by poor leadership by the Pastors.
Meetings: The Lead Pastor shall preside over all meetings of the Advisory Council. If it is not possible for the Lead Pastor to attend, then the Lead Pastor shall choose a designate chairman for the meeting with an appointed member keeping minutes for the record. All decisions require a simple majority of those present.
Limits of Authority: Advisors are non-legislative Partners, except otherwise noted in Paragraph 9.1 hereof, empowered by the Partnership to lend advice, based on their wisdom and experience, to the Pastors concerning any and all matters of His House Church. But the ultimate responsibility of decision-making rests with the Pastors since they are the ones designated to lead the church. However, a majority of the Advisory Council may petition the Presbytery should concerns arise about actions of the Pastors that seriously threaten the health and witness of His House Church.
Compensation: The Advisors shall not receive any compensation for their services on the Advisory Council but may be reimbursed for substantiated, out-of pocket expenses incurred while serving the church in their Advisory capacity.
Under the supervision of the Pastors, the Management Team shall be empowered to determine how various ministry directives will be pursued.82 The Management Team helps manage various Ministry Teams established by the Pastors that are further described in Article XI herein. This team shall oversee the gifts and talents of those in the church body as they function in the wide array of categories in the church. Tenure of service for any official leadership position shall be determined by effectiveness and attitude, not by length of time. Team members shall possess an anointing for significant areas of oversight and people skills. Appointment and removal of Management Team members shall be in accordance with Paragraph 5.6 herein.
MINISTRY TEAMS
Ministry Teams shall be formed with appointed leaders by the Pastors to implement specific ministries, to complete particular purposes, to meet immediate or long-term needs, or to address or evaluate current issues. The Pastors shall give each specific Ministry Team a name in order to reflect the nature of the assignment. The Pastors shall have full power to direct and assign the work of any Ministry Team, to change the mission and work thereof, and/or to dissolve it. Before a Ministry Team is created, the Pastors shall prepare written goals and procedures to fully communicate the Team’s authority, mission, and term of service to its team members. Said goals and procedures shall be kept on file in the church office. Appointment and removal of Ministry Team members shall be in accordance with Paragraph 5.6 herein.
